Quick-Tile Installation Instructions
Please read the Denso Quick-Tile Instructions completely before using.
- Quick-Tile can be applied directly to most dry clean surfaces including
plasterboard, MDF, plywood, formica, and existing ceramic tiles.
- All surfaces should be wiped clean.
- Application temperature for Quick-Tile to wall is 50°F min.
- Quick-Tile should be carefully cut to size with a utility knife prior to
application.
- Carefully mark out the area where Quick-Tile is to be applied. Note:
The Quick-Tile should terminate 3/16” short of the eventual tile line in all
directions.
- Quick-Tile can be applied to surface in horizontal or vertical strips,
although for ease of application we recommend vertical strips.
- Peel back approximately 2” of release paper from the pre-cut Quick-Tile
and apply exposed adhesive to the top of the application area, checking for
correct alignment at both edges.
- Continue with removal of release paper pressing down with firm hand
pressure, taking care to exclude any air bubbles.
- Continue with successive strips of Quick-Tile, butting any joints
together carefully.
- Immediately before application of tile, remove plastic film from the top
surface of the Quick-Tile.
- Application of tiles directly to the Quick-Tile should be carried out at
a minimum temperature of 72°F (room temperature). If, for any reason,
this temperature is not achievable then gentle heat can be applied locally to
the surface of the Quick-Tile with a warm air blower (i.e., hair dryer).
- Tiles must be dust-free and dry, and are pushed on the Quick-Tile with
firm thumb pressure. Before applying firm pressure, check for correct
alignment after each tile is applied and pull off immediately if the tile
needs realigning.
- Tile spacers are always recommended to ensure correct alignment and provide
support during initial bond development. In vertical applications, tiles
should always be placed and supported from the bottom up using tile spacers.
- Once tiles are satisfactorily applied, grout immediately. In areas
that might get wet, the grout line should be sealed with a sealant.
- Grout should also be applied into the recess between wall and tile
around the edge of the tiles area (where Quick-Tile terminates short of the
tile line — see 5).
- If silicone sealant is to be used, ensure that it does not contact the
Quick-Tile as it could cause softening of the adhesive compound.
IMPORTANT: Quick-Tile should be stored at room temperature (65°F to 80°F)
prior to application.
Quick-Tile is recommended for use
with standard sized factory made flat backed or profile backed tiles. Some
hand made tiles may have uneven backs which could impair the bond.
Quick-Tile is not recommended for
swimming pools, shower floors or uneven surfaces.
When applying Quick-Tile in a
floor application, the floor surface needs to be level. An unlevel floor
surface could result in cracking of grout and/or tile.
